Lavender drying


Drying after harvest

For drying the herbs we use a tunnel dryer, in which the spread green mass moves continuously. This way we avoid stagnating in one place and overheating during the process. In addition, the herbs are spread out in an even thick layer to ensure that they dry evenly.

The dryer operates with recirculation of warm air and the moisture is getting out constantly or at a regular time. The process is controlled by the installation system. The dryer has 6 separate drying sections, each of which is autonomous and can operate in stand-alone mode with different parameters. The installation can work with a maximum temperature of 80ºС, the transport conveyors and air recirculation are designed in such a mode as to dry both large and very small plants (including saffron) without any problems.

After drying, the product goes through a sorting machine, which sorts the dried out flowers, leaves and stems of the plants.

Use and application


Cosmetics

The strong fragrance and soothing characteristic of the dried out lavender inflorescences make them one of the most wanted natural raw material used in cosmetics. Due to their relaxing effect, they are preferred in the production of candles and cosmetic soaps. Lavender is a proven insecticide and successfully replaces naphthalene in the wardrobe, while giving pleasant scent to clothes. To improve the quality of sleep and to fight headaches, dried lavender buds are also put into pillows.

Culinary

Lavender grains are used in cookery both to improve taste and give aesthetic completeness of food. Sugar-coated flower buds are used to decorate cakes, creams and other desserts.  Dried out lavender buds are used as a spice in making sweeties, cookies, etc., including lavender sugar.
